Staff Code of Conduct
Terms, Policies, and Conditions we exercise to offer the best service possible.
Our Standards
Standards of conduct are important in our virtual (online) classroom environments. Treat Latimer Tuition like you would a physical school. Appropriate staff behaviour is expected. To ensure that all students recieve satisfactory, safe and beneficial tuition support, all staff are expected to follow the Staff Code of Conduct.

The Staff Code of Conduct addresses support staff's, tutors', and administrators’ online interactions with Latimer Tuition students. The Staff Code of Conduct is intended to complement, not replace, existing regulations and policies, including those related to acceptable use, social media, electronic communications and data security. The following expectations apply to all lessons and related work which staff participate in at Latimer Tuition.

What We Expect

The sending of unsolicited emails and/or messages to students or fellow tutors is prohibited. Staff must use ONLY the messaging channels provided by Latimer Tuition such as email and website chat communications. Staff are prohibited to communicate with customers and students using personal messaging channels.

Staff are expected to turn on their cameras at the beginning of all lessons. While synchronous instruction is taking place, staff members may turn of cameras ONLY if students also have theirs turned off. Staff will not pressure students to turn their camera on or off. A staff self-photo, or “selfie,” should be used, so that they are easily recognizable to other tutors and students within a lesson while their camera is not in use.

Staff must use a self-photo, or “selfie,” and video feed background that is appropriate for an educational environment. Latimer Tuition administration reserve the right to determine if a staff profile picture and/or video feed background is inappropriate. Staff using an inappropriate profile picture or video feed background will be required to update their settings.

Staff are expected to be dressed appropriately for all synchronous lessons.

During synchronous instruction, staff are required to find a quiet space where they will not be distracted. Items that reveal personal information should be moved out of camera range.

Staff are prohibited from sharing or posting videos (synchronous and/or asynchronous), pictures, or copies of either student-generated or teacher work on social media, gaming networks, or elsewhere online (unless written permission is obtained from Latimer Tuition administration).

Staff are prohibited from accessing the synchronous instruction for any class they are not scheduled to attend (unless authorisation is granted from Latimer Tuition administration under special circumstances).

Recordings of synchronous lessons must be viewed by staff in a private setting that is not accessible to the public.

Staff must ensure students are aware of lesson recordings as they join.

No teacher or administrator will be required to stream or record instruction for a student’s illness or absence.
